This was the perfect place for us to stay. We celebrated Christmas
in style. We grilled tuna and steak Christmas eve and on our last
night. We loved the grill!
Your location is perfect. Close to everything. Very relaxing.
I would recommend your place to anyone.
Thanks, Aloha,

Jack & Dorinda -
You have a wonderful home. We don't want to leave. For once, the
pictures on the website correctly showed the accommodations. I've
stayed in several rentals and have come to not expect too much but
your home exceeded my expectations. Thank you.
This was my second visit to Kauai and Rick's first. It was nice to
have the time to do and see all the things we wanted to without
feeling rushed.
The kitchen was well stocked. I love to cook so we made many meals
here. The only things I missed were a few herbs (dill, oregeno, etc)
and a citrus juicer. I have a friend here and she gave us some
fruit from her small orchard. It wasn't too hard to juice them anyway.
Rick and I turned 40 while we were here and I'd have to say that Kauai
made it so much easier (for me - it doesn't seem to affect Rick!). I
love the solitude of this island. The stress just melts away when
I'm here.
We couldn't ask for a better location. Close to so many things but not
overcrowded. Thank you for making such a wonderful home away from
home for us. We'll be back.

I really love Christmas time in Hawaii!

Aloha! Dorinda & Jack,
In 31 years of marriage, we have stayed in many condos - but
we are in agreement - your is the best!
You did a marvelous job of describing the condo on the internet,
as we felt at home almost the moment we walked through the front
door. All the little extras you provide are great! VCR movies,
books, games, towels, cooking utensils, etc. But the beach chairs
were real winners - I don't know how many people stopped us and
asked where we rented them!
In the 5 days we were here - two absolutely beautiful sunrises
helped soothe the pain of constant 20-30mph trade winds.
We are moving on to Maui today - but so sadly! Mahalo to you
both!

Jack & Dorinda,
Mahalo for letting us stay in your condo for the week. We had so
much fun here. We loved this island! Unfortunately, our weather
wasn't the best but we still managed to enjoy ourselves. We got
married on Shipwreck Beach and luckily the sun came out to help us
share that special moment!
Our favorite thing to do here was Kayak on Wialua River. We kayaked
out to Fern Grotto and a 90 ft waterfall where we could swim. It was
awesome. The Na Pali coastline was beautiful too which we saw on a
boat (Eco Tours). Lots of dolphins!! We actually also took the
chance in swimming in the "Blue Room". It was a little bit scary
but definitely worth it.
Well Mahalo Again!

Dear Jack & Dorinda -
Mahalo for letting us enjoy your condo for the week. We think the South
Shore of Kauai is the best place to stay and your condo is very
comfortable with all the necessary amenities.
We also really enjoyed Kauai. Unfortunately it was mostly cloudy during
our stay but that didn't stop us at all. Highlights included our
helicopter tour of the island (part of our 13 hour long Hawaii Movie
Tours adventure), horseback riding to a waterfall and pool at Silver
Falls Ranch and snorkeling and dining in Poipu. We got to see the
best sunset ever one night while eating dinner at Brennecke's - it's
going to be a hard one to beat!
Mahalo again for helping to make the 2nd week of our honeymoon so
enjoyable!
Sincerely,
Gretchen and Brian Heacock

P.S. We love the website for this unit - that is what sold us on
this place!

Lynn & Ron must Do's:
-
Helicopter - Bale Hai out of Port Allen -great
-
Snorkel at Beach House Restaurant in front - best fish
-
Must see tropical garden and eat at Plantation Gardens 742-2216
-
Kayak at Kayak Wailua with Mike - he is low key and interesting.
Slow paddle and hike to falls (my arms ache today!) 822-3388
-
Drive to North Shore beaches was amazing - water was too rough at
Tunnel Beach but "Dry Cave" and mountains were a plus - never seen
sights like that.
For a sweet wine, try Macadamia Nut Honey Wine. Loved location of
this place - not busy, sunny. Go see Hyatt just to gawk at location
and amenities and their own California Sand beach.
Thanks for the use of the beach towels, cooler, beach umbrella,
boogie board, books, stereo (bring some CDs). Thanks! ALOHA.
Lynn and Ron.

Jack & Dorinda ... WOW!!
Mahalo Nui Loa for an outstanding time. We didn't lack anything in
the way of amenities. We sacrificed our beach mats... I hope the
next person finds them.
We did most everything in the seven days we were here. North Shore
(we thought the current was worse and quite buggy), Waimea Canyon,
Smith's Luau ... (great), Sunsets at the Beach House (Best with a beer!).
Sue liked snorkeling best at Poipu Beach (right side). I enjoyed it
best just off the Beach House Restaurant. Swam with turtles there!
Took surfing lessons with Nukamoi Surf Shop (next to Brennekes)! Have
wanted to surf since 1966. I eventually stood up but really need to
come back and practice. Could you guys include a 9'6" longboard in
yer closet of goodies? Hootah!
Sue and I spent 8 years in the Navy ... mainly on the West Coast and
we really enjoyed being around all of the S.E.Asian, Filipino, Japanese and
Hawaiian people again. Different cultures bring new perspectives to
your life.
I personally think (Sue agrees) that your place is in the perfect spot
for enjoying Kauai. The hidden parking garage is especially an enjoyed
perk! Now its back to our own paradise in Colorado... damn, I'll have
to put pants and shoes back on!
Mahalo and good luck until we rent your place again.

Kauai is beautiful and the condo is perfect. We couldn't have picked
a better place to stay. My wife didn't even have one complaint (ha ha).
We did quite a bit but the highlights for us were the sights at the Canyon
and the great snorkling at Poipu Beach.
The time went so fast and we wished that we had a few more days here.
But it's off to the big island tommorrow.

Thanks for sharing your home away from home - we love it! Will be
back! 3 must do's:
-
Buy the Ultimate Guide to Kauai, $13 available everywhere - tells
EVERYTHING!
-
Fly Air Kauai with Chck Di Piazza, incredible - perfect tour and
guide - DO EARLY!
-
Luau at Smith's Tropical Paradise. Go see beautiful gardens early-
go back to luau later and see terrific show + good food.
Tips - don't grocery shop in Koloa - go to Kapaa Foodland or Lihue
store. Lihue also has a Walmart and Kmart for other stuff. Tomcats
in Old Koloa Town ( 2 miles) has good food. Blue water beaches and
photo ops are on North Shore - take side roads and walks to them (in
guide book). Snorkel at Ke'e, Tunnels and Anini. Swim at Poipu.
See beaches at end of Poipu Road (dirt/bumpy). Bring flowers off
ground into house - plumerias have a nice smell.
If you need something its probably here in in a closet - beach towels,
coolers, pool cups, fins, chairs, ... anything else - call Quinsie at
R&R (on note pads). In case no one told you - parking under garage
behind pool. Please feed chickens.
Watch Jurassic Park video under TV after you fly w/Chuck. See Wailua Falls
(de plane, de plane). See movie book at Air Kauai office. Many movies
filmed here - you'll recognize places. Also - see Allerton Gardens!!
2 miles west on this road - reservations.
Sept 11, 2001 - WTC attacked - delayed our trip home 6 days. Terrible
tragedy but made best of delay till we can get home. Whole island
seems in mourning - cut off.

Aloha Jack & Dorinda (and Guest To Be)
WOW! What could've make it better - maybe fresh flowers daily and
free massages! It was fabulous! The condo is perfect - much more
than we anticipated and very comfortable. We felt blessed. This
island is #1. We spend a week in Maui before coming here and wished
we had spent it all here - next time we'll know.
We didn't kill ourselves trying to see it all but it seems like we
accomplished a lot - the drive to the Canyon (awsome), Capt. Andy's
trip to NaPali was a blast (a must - lots of dolphins and turtles
on the way), our drive to Hanalei and swimming in some beautiful
coves. You also have to do the helicopter trip. We did Will Sauyres
Tours and it was unbelievably awesome.
As far as restaurants - just pick one - never had a bad meal anywhere -
loved Tomcats burgers - Zenos in Hanalei.
We also really enjoyed the flavor of this area of Poipu - Spouting
Horn and especially watching the Monk Seal with her pup on Poipu
Beach. Also the turtles down at the Embassy Resort.
These memories will last forever!!

Dorinda, Jack, & Guests,
We have just spent the most incredible seven nights and days here in your
lovely condo (like home). We were so comfortable with all the amenities.
The only thing we were missing was a small drying rack for wet clothes.
Besides that, it was all top notch.
Our honeymoon has been adventurous, relaxing, and most of all romantic.
I would like to recommend a couple of things we experienced and stuck in
our minds. First and most important when you wake up and someone asks
what do we have to do today? The answer sounds so good. Absolutely
nothing.
We site saw, swam, snorkled, even swung from a rope tied to a tree into
Kipu falls. But our best night was going over to the Hyatt at sunset
watching the Hula dance at the bar. Then walking around the garden and
swinging the night away in a hammock... paradise.
Always wear sunblock, push yourselves on an adventure and always take
a day to do nothing.

Dear Jack and Dorinda,
We feel very lucky to have found your condo for our honeymoon. We weren't
sure what to expect, but we were so comfortable here. Thanks for all the
amenities. We loved listening to music, watching movies and reading books.
Smith's Luau was spectacular and a helicopter ride is a must. We were
happy with Air Kauai. Scuba diving is best off the Koloa Landing, and we
don't recommend spending all that money using a dive boat company. It was
just as good shore diving (and free!). But if you must go boat diving, use
Fathom Five; they are really nice.
Hiking here was great - definately recommend Wailua Canyon Swamp Trail
and Kalalau trail at the end of Ke'e beach in N. Shore. We love Keoki's
Paradise (try the Hula Pie!) and Taqueria Nortenos is great for fast
food. But we enjoyed being able to shop at Big Save and BBQing here.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful condo with us. We couldn't have
asked for a better view or a cleaner, more comfortable environment.
We will actually miss the five a.m. rooster crows and the wind whispering
through the bedroom. We will definately be back someday.

Jack & Dorinda,
Thank you for sharing your condo with us. You did a beautiful job on
the interior furnishings and decorations. Dave was excited about the
coffee grinder. We enjoyed all the little extra's we typically don't
get with condos.
Your recommendation of the Smith's Luau was great. They did a nice
job of creating a total experience. Highly recommend Air Kauai for
your helicopter experience. Very professional! The huge viewing
windows made for a wonderful ride. Your idea for cheap mexican
food - Tacaria Norteneos - worked out well for a quick meal. We
loved the mahi sandwich at Tom Cats Grill in Koloa and the fish tacos
at Keoki's Paradise - Poipu Shopping Village.
We spent a lot of time in the pool - it was great. The breeze and roosters
were enjoyable to wake up to.
We believe that you have the nicest condo in the complex - We had a
wonderful time.

Dear Dorinda and Jack,
This was our first visit to Kauai. Previously we've been to Oahu, Maui,
and Hawaii. We love the climate, atmosphere, and scenery of this beautiful
garden isle.
The tradewinds are cooling and the blowing fronds of the palms sound like
rain. The small town atmosphere and the friendliness of the people make
this a visitors paradise. The scenery is breathtaking. My favorite view
is at the endo of the Waimea Canyon Road at Pu'u O Kila looking out and
the Pihea Trail.
Your condo was perfect for us. I especially enjoyed your color schemes
and all the conveniences.
Sincerely,

Dear Jack & Dorinda,
As we sit here at the table, looking over your beautiful condo in the
perly light of early morning, I'm greatful to the wild roosters for
waking me early enough to enjoy every minute of our last day here.
From the moment we walked in after 19 hours of traveling to find chilled
water in the fridge, we felt welcomed. I can't imagine any need that we
might have that you haven't anticipated. Thank you!
While exploring the beautiful Garden Isle, we've seen many beaches and
had many memorable experiences but here are some highlights:
-
Air Kauai helicopters - all glass doors, Bose headphones, spectacular
tour.
-
Bali Hai Restaurant on our 29th anniversary. We arrived at 7:00pm to
take in every aspect of the sunset.
-
Surf was rough here on the South Shore when we arrived (8 ft!), so
Lydgate Park was perfect as a first time snorkeling spot. Lawai Beach
near the Beach House was safe later and the fish variety was amazing.
-
Recommend the NTB Garden tour for history and beauty - here on Lawai
Rd. (742-2623).
-
Holy Cross (Catholic) Church in Kalaheo welcomed us warmly with shell leis
and smiles.
Thanks again for providing us with a home, a true comfort zone, to return
to.

We had a great time the two weeks we were here. We snorkeled all over
the island. We thought Koloa landing, just down the road, was the most
amazing place we snorkeled. Lots of coral, many different fish and large
schools of fish. Boogie boarding at Brenneckes was also one of the kids
favorite things to do. The kayak trip up Wailua River was also a fun
adventure.
The condo worked out great for us. It was clean, had everything we
needed and was in a great location! Your neighbors, Rob and
Luciele, along with their two grandkids, are really wonderful people.
(Their granddaughters were the same age as our kids.)
We really had a wonderful stay and felt lucky to have found your condo.

Thank you for allowing us use of your fantastic condo. It is extremely
roomy and comfortable. We enjoyed the breeze throughout the evening
and early morning. The ceiling fans are wonderful!
5 days was definately too short for this island. We took full advantage
of our time. We highly recommend the Polihale Beach and Wailua Beach
if you like soft, sandy bottoms and lots of rough waves. We also
recommend a Wailua river kayak trip, we rented our kayak for two for only
$30 from Wailua Kayak and Adventure. Another must is taking a catamaran
around the Na'Pali Coastline, even though the snorkling was not good.
Conserning food we recommend Keoki's Paradise in the Poipu Shopping
Village.

Aloha, We are back again!
Thank you all for the wonderful comments about our condo and for
sharing your suggestions about touring the island, and especially
for being our guests in our home-away-from-home.
We worked on the condo more and installed a new loovered door in
the bathroom, installed ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom,
and added a few other enhancements for your enjoyment. We installed
mirrors in the bedroom in hope it would give a more expansive oceanview.
We ate at Mi Casita mexican restaurant in Koloa for the first time.
It has very good food. The Koloa fish market seems to always have
fresh fish - if not in the glass counter then just ask.
We caught most of the sunrises at first until we time-adjusted. Then
we caught all of the sunsets :-)
in front of the Beach House Restaurant across the street. Jack likes
to take a glass of wine with him. A great treat for us is to go to
the North Shore and eat lunch on the terrace at the Princeville Hotel.
The views of the mountains and Hanalei Bay are breathtaking.
We like being lazy around the condo grounds and local beaches, and
meeting people from all over the world the best. We hope you enjoy
your stay also!

April 14-24, 2001
Thank you, Jack & Dorinda, for the most wonderful vacation! Your
condo was fabulous, and like at least one other guest in this book,
we, too, over-packed, not realizing how much beach gear and other
necessary items were here (heck, we found the beach umbrella just
yesterday!).
It's sad to be leaving this beautiful island. Our favorites:
-
Swimming, lounging, & snorkeling at Lydgate Park - great for
beginning snorkeling & wonderful protected pool for our keiki
(11-months).
-
Kilauea Lighthouse and nearby Secret Beach - our favorite
North Shore spot - saw several whales and more seabirds than a
Nat'l Geograpic Special.
-
Koloa Town - worth a walk through - nice outdoor garden &
walkways behind shop with interpretive signs, history, etc.
-
Dinner at Beach House or simply taking some drinks over to
their lawn to watch the sunset
-
The drive through Waimea Canyon.
Our heartfelt thanks for a wonderful time.

Dear Jack & Dorinda,
Well, it's time for us to leave this beautiful island after a
wonderful two week visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your
Hawaiian digs! Had a great time on the beaches and snorkeling in
the surf. Had great fun exploring various restaurants. We
especially enjoyed a night at Keoke's Paradise and has a great
lunch at JJ's Broiler on the deck. We've had a lot of strong
winds and some heavy showers but it hasn't kept us from getting
out and having a good time. We shall take home memories of being
invited to sit on Auntie Suza's porch on Hoona Rd. and listen to
her stories sprinkled with some singing and dancing. A colorful
local lady! Also had the pleasure of meeting Uncle Louie, the
former Mayor of Salt Pond Beach, another friendly local character.
We saw 2 monk seals on Poipu Beach, turtles playing in heavy surf
at Spouting Horn and were enchanted by the many colorful roosters
all over the island. It's been a great trip! Mahalo for sharing
your condo with us. It's been a pleasure.

Aloha Jack & Dorinda!
After spending the last week on the islands of Maui and Ohau
I was wondering how much more this island would have to offer.
It definately has its "perks"! I feel as if there are about
ten different states wrapped up into this one island.
We have been up to Princeville, amde the trip to the Canyon,
and to the farthest beach on the west side. By staying here
in this condo in Poipu you are conveniently located to all
areas on the island. Only a short drive in any direction and
you find yourself looking at breathtaking scenery! Word of advice,
however, this island does have its own "traffic jam" scenerio.
Avoid driving towards Lihue at about 7:30am. I was surprised at
the amount of traffic tie-up there was.
The helicopter trip is a must. The price seemed quite high, but
after the journey my husband and I knew we had both seen sites
that only a small amount of people will ever get to view.
I really appreciated having the condo furnished with the "home-type"
necessities. Everything from extra toilet paper to beach towels,
to a blender. We didn't do much of our own cooking, but I can see
that the kitchen is well furnished.
The only item that I would have really utilized would have really
been the low-folding type beach chairs that you can sit in right
by the waters edge. We looked in the closets, but I didn't see
any (maybe an oversight on our part).
Who needs an alarm clock?! The roosters were a pleasant sound to
hear every morning. Reminded me of farms back in Indiana.
Thanks to you Jack & Dorinda for allowing visitors in you well-kept
condo. We'll be in touch with you via e-mail. We plan on bringing
our kids back to the island(s) the next time we visit. We'll sure
keep in mind this area and condo to stay at. Thanks for keeping your
rates at an affordable price. Vacations are meant for fun and not
something you have to pay for the rest of your life. :-)
Take care & you both enjoy life!

Greetings!
We loved everything about the condo; it is so light and breezy,
the gardens and palms give it a tropical private feel and the view
of the ocean is wonderful. I loved to take a cup of coffee out on
the lanai in the morning (Blue Mountain from Kauai Coffee Co.) and
watch the waves.
We enjoyed the Camp House Grill in Kaleheo - the pies alone make
the short drive worth while (my hubby especially liked the coconut
and chocolate cream).
We hiked the Kalalau trail up to the falls and swam under the
waterfall. Wonderful! The trail however was very muddy - be
forewarned! Tried SNUBA across the street at Lawai - we
strongly recommend it if you like to snorkel. The Jack Harter
helicopter tour was a highlight too.
Thanks Jack & Dorinda for your lovely place and your friendly
advice via email ahead of time.

The stay here has been wonderful and so have the people whom we have
met. Thanks to your neighbor Anna Maria and Phil they lead us to a
perfect place to have our wedding. We married at the oldest Luthern
church in Lihue, HI.
The condo was perfect and your representation of it on the internet
matched our expectation and some! There were many extras here I
didn't expect and could have packed much lighter. Next time we will
know!
As for the island we saw it by motor cycle (3 days), a convertible
for a week, by boat, and helicopter. All very nice. Thanks for
making our stay so cozy.

We have enjoyed our three weeks on the Garden Island and in your very
nice condo. We appreciate some of the little conveniences you have
provided like nice towels and an adequate supply of hangers and salt
and pepper in the cupboard. Of course we also appreciate the roomeness
and comfort of your condo.
The weather has not been particularly kind to us - too much rain and
too much strong wind but we managed to hit seventeen beaches, both
ends of the road, the canyon and most points in between.
We recommend Keoki Paradise for good food close by and Dukes Canoe
Club in the Marriott in Lihue for good food, good view, and a good
happy hour on Tuesday. Shipwreck Beach and the little beach across
the road are our favorites. We even got to see a Hawaiian Monk Seal
on the beach across the road. He "rested" there for at least eight
hours, maybe longer.

Jack & Dorinda,
We really enjoyed being in your condo. It is so nice and clean and airy.
I enjoyed the nice cutlery, and of course the tea pot stand from
British Columbia! The only trouble we had was looking for a teapot,
which we didn't find.
We enjoyed the day at the canyon, and swimming at the Salt Pond. Also
nearly every day in the pool here. We also had a good lunch at

Aloha Jack & Dorinda,
As we all know, "time flies when you're having fun", and now it is
time for us to bid farewell to the Garden Island. We will take
many happy memories with us:
-
the auto trips up Waimea Canyon, to Kilauea Lighthouse and Ha'ena
State Park.
-
Island Helicopter's 60 minute tour
-
Na Pali Explorer 3 hour cruise (we spotted over 6 humpback whales)
-
Snorkeling and sunsets at Prince Kuhio Park

Dear Jack & Dorinda,
We found the condo homey and inviting also. Much nicer than the last
condo we stayed in as it was much more generic - I love the way you've
decorated and we thought the books and movies a nice touch for your
guests - you've done a great job of making this a warm classy with an
island feel environment.
The island Kauai was absolutely spectacular - much easier pace than
Oahu with its highways and big city scene. This is what people think
of when they think Hawaii. We enjoyed snorkeling on Poipu Beach -
great for beginners like us. We also took an exciting helicopter
ride on inter-island helicopters which we highly recommend. The doors
are off for optimum viewing pleasure and also helps if you get motion
sickness at all (I do) because the fresh air is blowing thru helps.
I didn't get sick at all. Also they give interesting tidbits about
the island. We also enjoyed a luau at coconut beach. Not overly
crowded and the show was fantastic although I personally thought the
food was only OK - nothing to write home about. The drive up Waimea
Canyon is also a must - breathtaking views and drove down to PoliHale
beach to watch the sun go down. Nice uncrowded beach but not good
for swimming. It has huge pounding surf when we were there.
We have had 2 weeks here between Oahu and Kauai and it still wasn't
enough time. This is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth.
We will be back!!

Aloha and Happy New Year!
Jack & Dorinda, if you ever get sick of this place, you just let
us know. We'll gladly take it off your hands! :-)
We've had a wonderful stay here and really enjoyed the comfortable,
at-home atmosphere of the condo and the island after several days
on the very commercialized Maui.
We loved seeing the sunrise every morning (even if once it was via
the reflection in the mirror while we lay in bed!). We spend some
wonderful quite hours by the pool and had a couple of fantastic
meals from the BBQ grill. The fish from Fish Express in Lihue was
fantastic.
Our most touristy day was a trip by Kyack (sp?) up the Wailua river.
Very much worth it as its a good day of exercise and the falls are
fun. (Smith's Boat Tours rents the Kyaks for $25/person, just past
the Holiday Inn Sun Spree in Wailua). Today we are off to the North
Shore before we hit the airport.
Thanks again for a wonderful stay. It was much too short. Next time
we know just where to come!
